phone calls from 01424845573 pretending to be from talktalk are a scam, don t talk to them, put your phone down.

Reports elsewhere suggest it s the tired old "home appliance insurance" scam.

I m getting really sick of these calls now. I am registered with TPS but am called both on my mobile and home number. I actually pressed 5 to speak with someone and she just put the phone down on me. This is the UK version of a scam running amok in the US. The supposed company, microsoftechs.com, contacts people and claims there is an issue with their computer. The claim to be partnered with Microsoft and gain confidence with all the classic scam talk. If you do get scammed, they will access your computer via remote access, go through your email, install software and who knows what else. Phoned mobile. Went straight to voicemail as unknown number. No message so wrong number, idiot or dubious with dubious the most likely. Now blocked.

I have received quite a few calls from this number. I decided to phone it back, and there was an automated computer voice (sounded a bit American) which said "I m sorry, an application error has occurred. Goodbye." Obviously a scam of some sort. I ve saved the number in my phone as Spam Caller , so I ll be sure not to answer it in future.

I contacted this number after several missed calls, the company is called Freshstart, from what they said they get your info via loan applications etc, They seem to either provide or find you Debt Management company/PPI insurance recovery and probably other things. I just said I didnt need it and to take me of the call list.

This came up as an international number, the guy claimed he was from Talk Talk who I left 5 years ago. I hung up and suggest you do the same.
