This call was made from an extremely noisy office, where the background noise was so loud that I had real trouble hearing the person on the line. They offered to call back - and did so, but about an hour later. They said they were calling from my phone company about an upgrade, but when I asked them to confirm which phone company, the caller got very annoyed (raised voice) and defensive - and most importantly, couldn't tell me which phone provider asked them to call.
This was a call from a person saying they were from Virgin Media reporting that our internet had been hacked on numerous occasions to cut a long story short I was asked to download the TeamViewer App onto my iPad so they could “put everything right” they were very convincing and I foolishly parted with some money before my switched on son overheard me and hung up the call, I have deleted the app and contacted by bank to report the “Scam” I wanted to forewarn everyone if they receive a call hang up immediate

IT'S A DANGEROUS SCAM! A computer is dialling numbers in sequence to sniff out voice lines. If you speak then the line is detected as 'an active voice line' and logged as such, a scammer will then be calling you later, and usually using a different number! If you don't recognize the number calling DON'T SPEAK, JUST LISTEN! If you don't hear a voice and then the line goes dead then congratulations - you've just successfully escaped being scammed! Safe number I received a missed call from this number but none of the 'who called me' websites had any comments and I wanted to know who had called. As the number is local to me, I took a chance and called them back, It's the Boots Opticians Appointment Booking Centre so it's quite safe. They have written to me several times as I'm due for my eye test but I just hadn't got around to making an appointment. I'm leaving this comment just to let other searchers know who called.

Silent call = no message left after answering machine started
Said they were Mcafee support, handling issue relating to our home "network" which would mean all devices using network (he meant router) would shortly become infected and stop working.
