2 nd Cold call in two days told them politely "To go forth and multiply"

This is a new, and weird, one for me. Called my landline but disconnected when I picked up (now they know this is a live number,,,damn!!). No message left so I'll never know if I have been left millions of pounds from an unknown benefactor who needs me to handle his money, for a small fee, to help them evade paying local taxes or being claimed by a fictional Government department.

Called and hung up within 3 seconds. Could hear people/noise in the background

Scam about washing machine cover - they even passed me to a ?manager? when I said I didn?t have a policy with them! When I asked for proof because I didn?t believe them, they hung up on me! Avoid!

Said it was from EE, offering to apply a discount to my account. Not sure about the authenticity of the caller so declined.

Caller didn t know who my mobile provider was, but tried to convince me I was entitled to a new phone for free. They hung up when they realised I was not taking the bait.

Received voicemail saying to Call this number before things get worse problems. Immediately called back. No reply. Tried four times. No reply. Eventually was answered. Initially silence then after e a couple seconds heard what sounded like an announcement at a railway station or airport in the background then suddenly went dead. All subsequent attempts to refusal again have failed. .

Have previously had about three missed calls from this number - just picked up the latest call and they informed me that I d had a car accident at some point since July 2010 - I have never had a car accident, thank goodness. I asked them where they got this information from - they said they purchased these details from a company and had got them as I had registered the accident but hadn t claimed anything. Sounded like an Asian call centre. The callers voice was faint and I cold not understand what they wanted. Since this is a mobile number and the caller appeared to be in a call centre I consider it suspect.

comments on another reverse lookup service suggest the number is being used by 118 to canvas businesses for entry in their directory.

"Brian" called from this number. He called me last week from a different mobile (which I blocked) introducing himself as "Barry". I recognised his voice and told him to jog on (words to that effect) so he didn t have the opportunity to tell me again that he was calling on behalf of a creditor who was threatening to take legal action regarding insufficient loan repayments.
