This number has rung on three occasions and each time given a different reason for calling, although each time gave the same company name. Wanted me to log onto my computer to help me fix a problem which I refused. Said they would call back in 10 mins to get me to log in and i told them no. I presume it is a scam to get my log in details and personal information. Don t do it!

My experience is the same as everyone on this page. This is a scam. how can I stop these scammers apart making note of their number and not answering it if they ring again. They may not use the same number though.

Claimed to be calling from harrison charles (a wealth management company), wanting to discuss changes the government made last year in respect of pensions. The number on my display was 01916719985 which comes up a number of times on Google as unsafe.

This number should be a landline from Manchester - I haven't found any ratings for this number somewhere else on internet, but similar numbers of the same range 1618148xxx are always marked as call centre - telemarketing, accident claims or surveys (market research). Does someone have some experience with this one? Nuisance call for me, blocking it now.

SCAM Pretending to be from D&G (Domestic and general) about my washing machine cover. Told me the price had gone down and just needed my sort code to identify it was the correct account. Gave him that and then he wanted the account number. Said it had to be done for my protection as it was a new direct debit for the new amount. “What can we do with just those numbers? I too hit the link about Sean Connery, got this message with the spoken text - Microsoft - dangerous virus - we'll have to block your computer to stop it infecting our servers, blahblahblah - and clicking on the checkbox to make it go away has no effect. So, like your correspondent above I powered down then up again after a couple of minutes. All fine. Don't fall for it.

Fraud They call to advise that an arrest warrant has been issued in "Your" name for tax evasion, and invite you to press "1" for further info. A person with a strong Indian accent answers and in short they invite you to settle out of court. I suspect that the caller is not UK based but is using some relay of sorts to make calls appear to be UK based. Once you have them on the line, it is up to you whether to simply insult them or string them along for as long
