Not sure if it is a scam, but concerned they knew my name, and what domestic appliances I have. We recently cancelled insurance with Domestic and General, so wondering if they have sold on our details. Told them I don't need their insurance as would by new if beyond economic repair, and the caller seemed surprised that I could fix a recent washing machine problem myself. Introduced himself as John Shepherd and working for a children's charity, the name of which I did not catch. He checked with me that he had run the right number by checking my company name. Spoke really slowly so I new this was going to be a long call probably looking for money so said I was busy (which I was). Have seen him reported as a scammer on other number check sites.
