I was looking for an upgrade with my current network bt, And this caller for some unknown reason new this information, how i have no idea, tried to con me into taking a sim only contract, then get any phone of my choice after 3 months, be very careful don t be scammed by these tactics, very untrustworthy way to do business, how they got my information is a bit scary as only family members have my number.

The companies don’t "get" your number, they just block-dial numbers until they get a ring tone so TPS and ex-directory numbers do not offer any protection.

Called this number back & she claimed to be from HMRC who apparently have served me with two warrants around miscalculation of Tax. They apparently called at my home on two occasions during lockdown when I was home and not allowed to leave me house. She was very plausible, giving me a name, badge number and warrant ref numbers. HMRC scam saying i would be arrested if i did not ring back.
Bogus call, very hard to hear. Said that I had registered for some sort of financial trade. I said I had not and asked where they acquired my nunber from. She repeated that I had registered for financial trade. I told her she did not have permission to call my number again and that the call would be reported as scam to potentially gain personal details and/or defraud of funds. Ominous sounding male voice, purpporting to be from B.T. warning my services would be cut off. I have no B.T. Services.
Following up a comment that this number might be Friends of the Earth, I emailed FoE and was told the number is a fund-raising agency called Listen, used by FoE. At my request FoE has deleted my number. I suggest that anyone who keeps getting calls from this number also contacts FoE via the Contact Us form on the website, to ask for their phone details to be removed so no more calls are received.
