Yes, this definitely seems a genuine HSBC number but based in the Philippines. I received an SMS about a large payment I had made the day before and they were double-checking. HSBC do this type of checking all the time in Asia ( while I was living there), but less so in the UK.

Update for my entry 19/04/17. Call from this number received after placing ad on Gumtree to sell a car. Caller spoke with South Asian accent, claiming to represent, MTA Solicitors regarding a Road Traffic Collision. I contacted MTA Solicitors directly. They do not make or condone cold calls whatsoever. Any cold call received where the caller purports to be from or acting on behalf of MTA Solicitors, should be treated as fraudulent.

Wouldn t give me details on how they got my number, wouldn t even remove my number unless I provided my name which I refused to do and I was bluntly told that it was my own fault if I got more calls. This is completely unacceptable - no company required your name to remove your number from their list. I see people are commenting saying that it s OK, it s legit.
