Please check the number and try again' so whoever it is, is obviously using a spoof service to attempt to scam people. If they wasn't trying to scam people, then they would have a legit phone number!
SCAM! Following several silent/scam calls, I normally screen all calls with my answering machine, but decided to pick up this time. Voice at other end said he was calling about a problem with my "Virgin Media broadband". I don't have Virgin Media broadband to told him to piss off! SPAM Total Review - life insurance company. Caller definitely had a "British" accent (though I know there isn't just one - he was definitely a native English speaker though) but really didn't annunciate when he was speaking so I struggled to understand him. He backtracked several times when I called him out on what he was saying. Was rude, dismissive and persistent despite me keeping saying I was not interested in talking with him about my life insurance - all in all a pretty horrible experience
Number unknown to me so I didn't answer. They didn't ring for long or leave a message so I suspect a call centre for some scheme or other.
