Says 'please hold the line' and puts you on 'hold'. Just hung up, very likely a scam
Scam call said to be urgent and aimed at benefits claimants.
Had countless missed calls on my machine from this number and did a little research, since I m very apprehensive about answering calls from unknown numbers. Apparently, this number belongs to LBM marketing, an outsourcing company for Vodafone, o2, Scottish Power and several other companies. So if you re not interested - like me - just ignore the calls or block the number (as I did).

this number called me today around midday, there was a delay, then a "bong" sound then a recorded voice said "goodbye" and hung up. presume it s some automated way of checking to see if a number is valid, so i can look forward to more spam calls now i guess!

I ignore calls from unknown numbers so no idea who it is but it s persistent and it s annoying. My guess is telesales

Can now confirm the call I received from BT this morning was spurious BT tell they will NEVER call you it is up to customers to contact them unless it is an official letter request They probably wanted access to my computer so they could lock it & then demand money - do not under any circumstances give them access to your computer. BT have noted the no but it is probably accessed from abroad (India) Incidentally because I was busy Jack Smith agreed with me he would call back @ 4pm needless to say he did
