Fraud Sent WhatsApp messages to my mother saying "Hi Mum, this is my new number, I broke my phone, my day has been the worst, I don't want to talk about it, I am really stressed out", I'm paraphrasing, but that covers everything that was said in the conversation except Mum asking "John, is that you?" which they replied "yes". Recorded message saying from bank fraud team.I hung up and checked number which is registered to a property firm in Edinburgh.
Safe number
This number rang my mobile at 9.52am (21/4/23) - but on answering it came up as not allowed and shows as a missed call, so that raised a red flag. Initial research came up as a Sarah Oakley on LinkedIn advertising vacancies in the UK . However, this next search as come up as from being in Russia, making me even more suspicious of who or why they are calling as I have no connection to Russia or Sarah.
