I ve received two phone calls from the following number - 01427 610075 concerning the router on my computer. They had my personal details and confirmed my name and address. They said I would be entitled to a ?20 refund and the government was about to fine them if they didn t correct people s computers. When they started to talk about money I became suspicious. I put the phone down, dialled 1471 and their number is no accessible. I phoned Talktalk and was told this is a scam albeit a very plausible one. Bewa

This is some landline from London area, I couldn't find any info for this specific number, but there are two facts : people do search for this number which can be seen from different similar pages, and there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. It's virgin media, I have given my notice, and even now past the 14 day cooling off period they keep calling, I've even got my new router from my new provider. These people are definitely dodgy. The phone rings and a woman tells me it’s about my washing machine and there’s nothing to worry about. I asked the name of her company. She said it was ‘Cover Group UK.’ She said that the cover on my washing machine has just run out. I said that that I thought it was insured. Then she changed her story slightly by saying that warranty has run out (The warranty ran out over a decade ago). I pointed out that that’s irrelevant because I’m insured. She hung up on me.

I parted with money, and had remote access install the programme (I later found they had not, when I went to use the online support, and found I had no security programme from this company).
