Lady with Indian accent called, seemed to know my surname and read out my email address asking me to confirm. I confirmed my email (stupid, I know) then the lady wanted to ask a whole load of questions. Hung up.

An electronic message informed me that my IP address had been compromised by 2 different countries. As a consequence my broadband cut off and reset. I was invited to press keypad no 2 and speak to a technician. I hung up. This is the 3rd call I have received like this. The first call identified itself a BT but the last one gave a woman's name. My provider is virgin.
Said they were from npower wanting meter readings. Since we are with npower assumed OK. Also wanted to confirm meters outside so a meter reader could confirm. This is a bit odd, unless it's usual npower incompetence, because they have done that many time

This caller, a male with Asian accent, is potentially dangerous. He said he was from BT and that my broadband connection had been compromised. When I explained that I did not have a phone line from BT any more, I asked how could he know that my internet connection had been compromised. There was a few moments of silence while he thought of a suitable answer, then he said that the phone lines were provided by BT.
