I have received a call from this number a recorded message claiming to be the HMRC threatening to take action against me. There was an option to stay on the line and speak to an operator. Obviously I didn't. When tried to call back, receiver ended the call back.
Automated call purporting to be Amazon Prime reminding me of my subscription of £79.99 is due to be taken from my bank account. This account is in my daughters name, also if I want to speak to someone it said to dial 1, which I did and got an Asian sounding voice. When I tried to explain she cut me off. It is my belief that this is a scam call.

The number = 01709889223, this number phoned me today (at 13:08 on 1st March 2022) and the caller stated they were from BT OUTBOUND ringing about my telephone. They were indian, male and middle aged, they identified themselves as John Martin. I am ex-directory and my phone is registered with the telephone preference service to block sales calls and unwanted calls. I checked online and the number was listed as Indian and Rotherham based. Scammer. Caller claimed they were from Microsoft and that they needed to fix computer as it was sending critical error messages. Not even logged into any machine, so a load of nonsense. Told them they were talking nonsense and only trying to spam/scam people. Needless to say they quickly hung up. Caller possibly overseas and routing to a UK number.

Missed a call to my mobile from this unknown local Nottingham number. Suspicious as I haven't given my number to any but a handful of friends, and my doctor/dentist/pharmacy. No message left. So Octopus Brokers pretending to be an Energy Company, are selling private details to third parties who want to put lethal equipment in people's homes so they can cut people off when they feel like it. I will report them to the ICO. Section 4(2) of the Fraud Act 2006 covers fraud by abuse of position which the billing company deliberately omit.
