They called at 7.38am claiming to be from Microsoft and wanting to speak to the computer owner. They hung up when I answered no to all their questions about my computer.

SCAM - No Caller ID and phone only rings two to three times before ending.
Called demanding a large amount in tax as stated I had invaded tax. Was transferred to pay it and did I'll go to the post office. Called HMRC. Nothing to pay. Do not trust!
This is a renewal scam phone number. Do not call them. You haven't been billed for renewing Norton (even if you are using it, this number is not Norton). They even claim the number is "toll free" - which it isn't. Also, this is not a term we use in the UK anyway, we would say it was a freephone number. The scam usually involves you logging in to your on-line bank, then them showing you that they have overrfunded you (by blanking your screen then manipulating the contents of the page).
Call center, Took a while to answer after I picked up, then unintelligible Indian gentleman, apparently called Sam from a company whose name I could not catch, doing something I could not catch (despite asking 'Sam' to repeat himself.

Claiming to be BT who do not provide my internet calling about my internet problems, specifically the public IP. They claim it is public because of hacker which is a lie. Want to connect to your computer ultimately. NEVER let this happen.
