I received a call from 01799 734682 same scenario only I was distracted at work and answered her question so she hung up. Tried to call back and got the same J. Marner response. Feels very much like identity theft material.
Fraud - Do not answer to this number!!! They say there you are being investigated for tax evasion and there is a warrant out for your arrest and to press 1 if you don't want to be arrested. I fell for this scam from a different number before and they try push you to pay them the money you supposedly owe them. These people are NOT Inland Revenue- They are scammers!! Found this on BBC News today regarding this type of scam "A cold caller has conned a woman in a south of Scotland village out of nearly £29,000. The incident happened in xxxx, near xxxxxx, on Saturday morning. The man phoned the 59-year-old and claimed to be from BT Openreach and said that he was investigating "suspicious activity" on her computer. He then took her through a series of instructions which allowed him to gain online access to her bank account and remove the money."
I got a text from this number pretending to have a verification number for Microsoft. I refreshed the website and got Microsoft to send me another a verification number. When Microsoft text you, it will say MICROSOFT. If a mobile number comes up, DO NOT USE THAT CODE.
