Phones my number regularly, I finally answered and a lady with an Indian sounding accent said Hello, I said Hello back and waited and she hung up.
I have twice received calls last week from somebody (Roger, I think) claiming to be from SSE. He wanted to talk about a new contract. He didn’t specify whether it was gas or electricity. He first asked for somebody who has not worked here for several years. I asked him to send the new prices by email. He seemed upset by this very simple request and claimed it was impossible. I told him to call back later in the week when he had sent the email. He did from this number and came out with the same drivel
Said they were from BT and phoning about my Internet. When I said I didn't have Internet with them they called me a 'funking liar'.

Fraudulently claim to be O2, this is a LIE, these people are criminals. They would probably try to steal personal information for identity or financial theft if not called out as liars. They dropped the call when challenged.

It worryingly coincides with DAILY Phishing e mails for past 3/4 months reported to report@phishing/ICO and Microsoft. On answering, I got a recorded message saying it was something to do with bank security, followed by a message that was intended to frighten. I hung up, and have blocked the number. They will claim to be calling from O2 (if you tell them you're not with O2, they'll change the story and say they're calling from your network provider/carphone warehouse/some other lie). They will try to solicit personal information and bank details from you. Hang up and block the number!
Automated call SCAM. Said they were something like 'Visa Fraud Department' and that there were two suspicious transactions, one an Amazon Gift Card, the other an International Money Transfer. Tried to get me to press 1 to talk to their representative. Had a similar call yesterday, but didn't check the number.
