They asked for an E-mail address, but I explained that we have not used that for 10-12 years - as we have converted to the much more professional "W-mail" system, which avoids spams and scams. It seems that hospitals are in a Catch 22 situation here. While wishing to remind patients of appointments, and thus cut down on missed appointments, they also wish to protect people's data so cannot simply leave a message on an answerphone which may be accessed by people other than the person to whom they are addressing.
