Received a text claiming person had an accident. I responded as I recognised the name - turns out this was a lucky guess / coincidence. They then replied asking for a phone top up - Google says this is a scam.

Got a call from this number saying they are from HMRC and I have criminal record for outstanding tax payments. They said if I don’t pay today over the phone a warrant will be out for my arrest. They called yesterday (missed) and today. Sombeody who wanted to "help me get a better deal" on my energy. I am not even a homeowner. I asked them how they got my number. Apparently I "must have filled in an online survey" and they bought my details from them. Dubious, seeing as I don't give out my phone number for good reason, don't do online surveys and always make sure to check/uncheck boxes as appropriate.
