The second one today from the same stable - only the 2 digits at the end are different. Both calls from Manchester. There have been a few today - getting fed up with these scammers ringing constantly. They must be getting very strapped for cash to keep trying to defraud 'unsuspecting' people!! Caller ID identified the call was from Bishops Stortford. The caller said he was from O2 offering a 30% discount on my tariff. I told him I was suspicious of this call, he diverted me to another person who repeated the discount spiel. Asked why I'd be getting a discount, he said many complaints to O2 has led them to offer 'selected customers' a discount; I wouldn't have to give him any personal details, he would send me 2 texts. so I told him to sod off and disconnected the call. Reported to the ICO

Contacted the number via WhatsApp. Found out this person is a scammer based in Lagos, Nigeria
Fraud On Caller Display, this number looked like a London exchange. On answering, I got a recorded message saying it was something to do with bank security, followed by a message that was intended to frighten. I hung up, and have blocked the number. Others receiving calls like this might be taken in. What can be done to stop them?
