This is a hoax .... say they are from currys and PC world... they offer upgrade on your phone, 1 week on no new phone canceled card payment and direct debit, phoned again today soon as they heard my voice they hung up, I've been keeping the line busy for the past 2 hours .... got nothing better to do. I know ut won't do any good but I must be annoying them and stopping them catching anyone else out.

Suspect it's Cognism or similar checking they have the correct mobile numbers for contacts they're selling. Ask for you by first name, then when you say it's you, they say a random surname and then claim they must have a wrong number.

Possible SCAM/SPAM? Asked for a man who I regularly get phone calls for (we must have a similar phone number). Talking about a potential claim for reimbursement following car finance taken out 10-12 years ago. Didn't feel right as I said I did not know the person they were after and they went on to give me what felt like fairly personal information. The man in question seems to be wanted by a lot of solicitors - maybe he's a wrongun - and that phonecall was a front to get access to him?

I have a Sky and 02 contract, different phones. I had a call from this number purporting to be 02 on my Sky phone; took me a while to realise! Offered me a 45% discount on my bill for 2 years with no catches??? Spoke in an Indian accent, very fast, so not easy to understand. Asked for my full name, which I queried as he was supposed to have my account records. However, not giving anything away, I did so but he misspelled everything. I received a call from this number this morning. The caller had my name. When I asked who was calling, the man stated that it was Direct Claims Group regarding the minor accident I'd had. I replied that 'You must mean the minor accident that I haven't had!' and told him to get off the line. When I checked Companies House records, there were two companies called 'Direct Claims Group'. One was dissolved in 2018 and the other in 2019. So the call was definitely annoying and probably suspicious.
Internet Claimed to be from plusnet....knew my full name and address and said they could get me a better deal. The line was very bad and I found it hard to understand the accent. He assured me it would only take a few minutes, which I said I couldn't spare...so he gave up. Plusnet do not have the number he called on

I did not pick up and no voicemail left - the caller ID on my smartphone said it was Three but Three are my provider and would leave voicemail. Internet search says the call originates in Russia? I am surprised that Three use a Russian call centre?
Left a message on my answer phone which was difficult to understand but appeared to be about an address for parcel delivery. They never said who they were or asked if I was the person they were trying to contact and further investigation showed that calls to this number cost 16p a minute from a landline plus a setup fee of 23p.
