Spam called and hung up without speaking
SCAM; recorded message claiming to be from BT Internet department (they're not our ISP), saying they'd tried to contact (they hadn't) and they were going to disconnect us. Put the phone down but no doubt they would have tried to get money or details from us.

I asked for more details and he hung up This morning he phoned again and again said he was from Chase Alexander and wanted to speak to my husband. When I asked him what he was calling about he said it was in regard to an accident. I informed him my husband had not had an accident could he be more specific. I feel sorry for Bideford G.B. because the criminals, who fake their numbers as well as everything else, chose to call me using this supposed number today. As usual, the voice was foreign and very indistinct, accompanied by crackling, and there was a delay before the woman even spoke. I told her to speak more loudly and clearly. i'm from overseas not in the UK and i received call from this number a few times already! haven't got any relations with Chippenham and didn't pick up the call either.
Call claimed to be from Vodafone retentions department promising me a 40% discount, asked me a bunch of security questions and then asked me to read him the code from a password reset email that he had triggered on my Vodafone account. This apparently would enable him to send me the priority app so I could access 5G calls and VIP features. Alarm bells at this point. I said I'd call him back then checked with Vodafone. They confirmed that this is not a number they use and not to give out any information. SC

Received a call offering a free tablet, declined as I did not believe they were calling from Vodafone themselves, and hung up. Then received a seemingly automated text message from Vodafone advising the call was genuine, but the grammar in the text was poor - "infact", "you wasn t sure", "removed you from our list of customer" - so I can t be sure if it is genuine. Surely a big company like that would check something so simple?

Automative message said criminal crime and police investigation added against to your name, and than said if you want to have more information about it press 1. I didn`t press 1. I think this is a scam and i beleive if i press one probably I proved access to my phone.
Very unclear line, foreign accent ranting on about BT. Unable to understand so ended call. If it was a genuine BT call it was most unprofessional, even for them.

A well spoken English accent for a change from the usual child caller. They at least had the business owners name for a change but the usual failure to state their name or purpose was present, my suggestion that the owner had gone to Tunisia for the summer will, no doubt, fail to put them off their mission of calling every day for the foreseeable future.

Have been rang by this number at least once a day for about 3 weeks - I normally miss the call as I don t have my phone on my at work. On the one occasion I picked up no one said anything on the other end when I said Hello then they put the phone down. I tried to ring back but it went the the guardian newspaper voicemail - I have no connection with the guardian so I don t think its very legit!
