Silence and hang up. When these time wasters call and actually speak, if I have a spare few minutes I put on a pathetic voice and ask them to wait while I go upstairs to the computer. Leave them hanging on while I carry on with washing up etc, then I hang up. Inevitably they call back to ask why I hung up. I usually respond either that if they waste my time, I'll waste theirs; alternatively I keep the pathetic voice and say I'd forgotten why I went upstairs.
