Called about a car accident I never had. Scam.

Text message received purporting to be from Royal Mail

01387404015 Missed call but notice from reviews that is yet another Accident Assist Scam. Normally they call me from different Aberdeen Numbers, so now they're trying to catch me out by phoning me from Dumfries. I haven't had any kind of Accident but they just don't leave me alone, no matter how many times I tell them to take my number off they're list.

SCAM. Caller pretended to be a big company with an unpaid bill. Did not understand my business or why I would owe money (I don't owe them, have never bought from them). I nicely explained I knew this was a scam and she was trying to steal money. She then OFFERED to delete my number from the database!

Of this really is th e region for this number and not a mobile number I am surprised. An Asian man, said from Sky and telling me my tv warranty was due for renewal. Just another scammer!!!!

TAXES/HMRC - an automated voice said they're HMRC. But are they?! - I'm suspicious due to there being so many phone scams! - (I never press "1" on my keypad to strange numbers now). I'll call them & find out & let you know, (if I can).

How this has been given a safe rating is beyond me!! Claim they are from O2 and send a code and then ask for it. They will then proceed to send you a phone by mistake and ring you back in a panic and say they sent it to you by mistake and can you send it back to them. Just hang up!!

Also, I just tried phoning the number back and it doesn't even exist - so somehow the scammer is making out that they are phoning from a local number to look more legit.

I answered a call from this number, and heard a male at the other end of the line with the sound of other people in the room. He didn’t answer immediately, and after a short while asked if I could hear him, to which I, possibly foolishly replied “Yeah, yeah”. The phone was not put down at his end, but there was no reply when I tried to communicate at which point I ended the call.

This was the first time there was an automated call at the other end purporting to be from HMRC asking me to press 1 because I hadn’t replied to them so they would start legal proceedings. Obviously a scam but worrying as I contacted the HMRC yesterday regarding tax relief and HMRC are one of the few organisations that use my number on a phone that is only used for verification purposes and not my main phone number used for day to day stuff.
