Did a callback and it is an Octopus Energy (sales?) number.
Got this phone call today, purporting to be from AXA Insurance. After reading other’s comments, have decided to ignore, as the real AXA website has valid phone numbers, if I need to check.
This number sent me a text on 26/02/2023 at 15:58 telling me to use the 6 digit authentication code it sent me to unfreeze my Facebook account. I called this number later and got Tesco mobile voicemail.
Call claimed to be from Vodafone retentions department promising me a 40% discount, asked me a bunch of security questions and then asked me to read him the code from a password reset email that he had triggered on my Vodafone account. This apparently would enable him to send me the priority app so I could access 5G calls and VIP features. Alarm bells at this point. I said I'd call him back then checked with Vodafone. They confirmed that this is not a number they use and not to give out any information. SC

Awaiting callback from my GP when this call came. Male caller talked about a free medical emergency pendant, but implied that there was a paid membership. It increasingly sounded like a sales call and I couldn't really see how this related to my medical issue. He asked about my willingness to give a testimonial, talking about medical response times, peace of mind for family - I was becoming further mystified as to why I was being called. Suspicious.

SCAM Said they were O2. Very convincing. Sent an OTP, like a fool, I gave it to them. By the time their call ended, and I got through to O2 (max 10 minutes), they’d already changed my email and postal addresses. O2 tell me the only time they will ask for the OTP is when a customer calls them. Looks like I stopped them in time, all details now changed, and security info changed, but be careful people. I’m a cautious type, but they fooled me

Call centre calling on behalf on UK for UNHCR (I think the company/call centre itself was called something like Angel Charity Services). They were following up on a one-off donation to see if I would set up a direct debit for a regular donation. (The call operator had my details and those of my prior donation.) Some oriental male purporting to be calling from o2 - "Hello, this is Adam, I'm calling from o2, how are you today?" I did not respond so there was a long pause, so I ask if he was going to continue, he put the phone down. I recently changed from o2. I've seen this with others, it would seem either o2 are selling our information to others, or potentially has staff exploiting their systems and our personal data.
