SCAM - when I answered the number, it quickly turned to music as if waiting in a queue (similar to waiting to talk to your drs). So I rang it back and it said “sorry this number doesn’t exist”! I had been called by 0161 818 4494 and by 0161 818 4493 it was same for both they do not exist. So I took the last number off changing it to 0161 818 449 when I rang it said the same, it doesn’t exist! I think this is a number used by a company who cold call trying to sell you something, that’s my thought on this.
Call from Amazon. Told to go online and check emails because somebody was taking £700 from my account. I said no and rang off. Called again wanting to know why I rang off and to get on the computer. I said no again but wouldn't take no for an answer I asked why not using Amazon number it was because it was a security number. Told unless I did as asked, payment would go ahead. I said OK go ahead.Told to be sure as call recorded. 'Good I replied, then you are also recorded. They rang off.
DANGEROUS SCAM. The Phone rang and caller (a computer) hung up when I didn't speak! This was a computer generated call trying to sniff out voice lines. FrI was caught out by this today. Luckily, I realised after the call ended and was able to change my account details before any damage was done. The scammers knew all of my details - full name, address, email address, how much I'm billed each month - even my security question. They were very convincing. They applied just enough pressure when the texts to change my account detail came in that I didn't have time to read them properly. Thankfully, I read them after the call and got straight on to O2 to change
