SCAM - Person claimed they were from UK Insurance Department / Black Horse Finance. Had my name & first line of my address (somewhat disturbingly) and wanted me to verify further information for a PPI refund, even though I had never claimed for a PPI refund. They wouldn't give me a number to call and when I said this couldn't be correct, the date for claiming for PPI has long gone and companies aren't ringing people out of the blue years when they haven't claimed, he hung up.

They phoned me at 7.00am - it woke me up. The only person who calls me on my home phone is my brother, and at that time in the morning I thought he may be in trouble (ie fallen, ill ). I raced down stairs - half awake - and could of had an accident myself. I don't know what they wanted because as soon as I realised it was a nuisance call I just gave a full abusive response.

Phone asking to speak to Mr ... (he had the correct surname) about a car accident Mr ... had had. When I asked which Mr ... (me or one of my sons) he said he would have to check with the insurance co and hung up. Things to note: None of the Mr ... on this number have had a car accident. These cold callers just don’t get it, do they? I know many businesses who became very successful without having to make a single cold call. How did they do it? They built a good website and then spent the time and money on getting that website to the top of search results, so when people typed in a search for their product or service, their website appeared at the top or near the top of the search results. The very fact these cold callers are clearly too incompetent to do this (hence they need to cold call)
I don't know for sure as I'm basing my suspicions on information for another almost identical number, which would be a scam posing as an accident claim company.
