SCAM: Overseas call centre (possibly India/Pakistan) pretending to be Virgin Media called asking me to install AnyDesk.com software to help me "fix internet problems", got very abusive when they realised they'd been wasting their time as I knew instantly it was a scam and kept them on the phone for a while

Machine called, purporting to be my bank and telling me about two recent transactions in my bank. I was offered to press 2 to speak to an advisor, which I did and a woman answered (Asian accent) " 'allo, 'allo" then "can I help you authorise you bank account?". I declined. My bank knows nothing of this. So - this number is obviously using technology to try and get access to people's bank accounts.

A foreign lady called at 1425 6/1/22 saying she was from the BT technical department to tell me about my IP Address. I said are you really from BT, she replied with “the BT technical department’. To quiz her more I asked what do I have to do - she said nothing.

I asked if it was Vodafone and she said yes, then asked how much I was paying for my phone bill and what kind of device I had - all information she should have been able to gather from my account. Cynical call, a day after receiving a SSE dividend, an unsolicited call from the USA about my share holding. An Indian sounding person, in a call centre, who had to asked on whose behalf he was calling. Then said it was some form of financial company. As if one would talk about your shares to an unknown person, acting for an off-shore company. Initially he was trying to make me believe he was connected to SSE.

Automated call stating that an official letter from HMRC tax is on route to me and legal action is being taken. Asks you to press 1 to speak to an official representative. Got to be a scam, I'm employed by the NHS and all my tax & National insurance is sorted by them. Blocked the number, I'll worry when the "official letter" turns up!

A spokesperson from BT told us, “We’ll never call a customer to tell them their router or IP address has been compromised or ask for any personal information, including bank details unexpectedly and we’ll never call from an ‘unknown’ number.

This number called automated message stating customs and revenue. American accent stated that I would be arrested if I did not pay a fine. Said o press 1 if I wanted to talk to someone. I hung up immediately. I know that HM Customs and Revenue do not telephone anyone. Obviously a scam
