This number rang and asked for someone called Emily ……….. . No one called Emily here . When I asked where she was calling from said it was Halifax

I rang the number back using 141 to hide my number. When the person finally answered it sounded like a work place in the background. it sounded like they were on hands free/speaker and I heard a man say "get off the phone" in a disgruntled voice and then he ended the call. Don't know what they wanted but it's annoying to get calls like this. I've now blocked the number.

If this was NOT you call us on 03309124638” I called Virgin money directly using their actual number from the back of my bank card to report it, it’s definitely a scam.

Got a call proclaiming to be O2 offering 30% discount on phone bill free of charge for loyalty. The contract mentioned is 2 weeks old and I haven't paid a bill yet! I ended the call as soon as I could, if it's genuine I would have expected a text from O2 or an email.

Foreign sounding pre-recorded message about a substantial VISA debitcard transaction. Obvious scam - messages from banks, etc do not usually start "Dear Customer". Use of an apparently local number is clearly an attempt to give it some credibility.

Left a message on my answer phone which was difficult to understand but appeared to be about an address for parcel delivery. They never said who they were or asked if I was the person they were trying to contact and further investigation showed that calls to this number cost 16p a minute from a landline plus a setup fee of 23p.
Fraud A friend of mine had money disappearing from her bank account, she's Burmese and her English isn't so good so I looked into it for her. Turns out it's a company called Florist-world.com that took 2 euro from her account then took 24 euro every 2 weeks. I finally found emails from them in her spam folder, they'd somehow managed to get hold of her debit card number and were taking 24 Euro every 2 weeks, the last email said that amount was increasing to 44 Euro. Recorded announcement throughout call asking me if I was eligible for a medical alert pendant. Can't be bothered with this kind of call. I don't feel it is genuine but didn't stop to find out.
This number calls and claims to be investors. Very rude individuals who call and push you to invest and they are so rude when you decline. They keep changing numbers but it is the same network of people - they are using different numbers to call - I have already blocked at least 10 other numbers they have used to contact me- stay well clear of them please!! If anyone has any idea how to stop them from calling please advise.

Another scam number, automated message pretenting to be from our card issuer that there is suspicious activity. This is the second call this morning from a number started from 01256 with different end digits. Do NOT press 1 or 2 as suggested. Number blocked now.

Answered but nobody spoke. Called number back but as with many of these 07731 numbers recently, it was "not recognised". Can only assume it's not above board.
