The BeWise insurance company ignore tick boxes stating NO contact - they will contact you regardless. When you tell them to remove your details from their database, they still call the next year. The Ombudsman needs to investigate this company.

Company called something generic-sounding like "UK Data" (can t remember the exact name) asked to speak to my husband saying he may be eligible for compensation "from his earlier work in industry". Had a call from this number on my landline at 5:30pm on Wednesday 26th July. Heard two voices on the line when I answered - one a lady who identified herself by name & said she was a local energy adviser (although this phone number is not local to me) but did not give a company name, the other a gentleman talking in a foreign language. To say that the phone number is localised to Plymouth is laughable, first an automated service saying it was a message from Chinese royal mail, then proceeded to talk in Chinese so had no clue what was being said.

This number was the one that appeared on my phone as having called me, after receiving an automated call supposedly from Visa, informing me of suspicious transactions on my account and to press 1 to accept or 2 if I did not. Later I phoned this number, using 141 beforehand so they would not know who called, and a man answered...just an "ordinary sounding guy", no mention of an office/bank/or fraud squad. I asked to speak to a random person and apologised for dailling a "wrong number"..
