SCAM Called about internet speed, this one claimed to be BT. Many calls last few weeks, sometimes claim to be Virgin, want to know speed, ip addr5ess and probably more. I string them along until they realise I am wasting their time, they then hang up abruptly. This one was not very polite.

It's a home appliance insurance scam. They called my elderly mother and tried to make her think it was her existing insurance company but it's actually a fak-ish looking company called J&L Home Assist. They tried to get my mum to hand over her bank details and persisted even when she said she wasn't comfortable doing that. A bit of investigation reveals that there are a number of similar fake companies doing the same thing, all claiming to be in the Bournemouth area.
Says they're carphone warehouse and are you looking for an upgrade, but very clearly just a scam callcentre.

This number has been calling me on my home phone continuously claiming to be from Sky TV. Indian sounding woman the first time and the other times from a man. When I answer the phone it takes a while for them to start speaking. Poor English - same scam as another number claiming there has been a breach of your sky line and they need you go go on your computer to fix it. Be aware!!

SCAM proporting to be from amazon prime with a refund. Had my partner on the phone this morning for an hour and had access to his phone screen after convincing him to download apps! Called back this evening and I had words with him. Called me a mutherfucker when I suggested he was a scam artist. Called him back on another phone. No answer but was called back a couple of minutes later and the same male south Asian voice denied any knowledge of the call.
Had a call today asking for my husband who passed away in may, he said oh yes I remember when we spoke he was ill, then said it was me that had been in touch with them regarding new windows, told him no as I already have new ones and I have a local builder that does anything I want done. kept ringing, hung up. its a computer calling many homes at once, and when you pick up, if they have staff available they will talk. if no staff, the call hangs up and calls another 100+ homes. very annoying. if not a scam, probably selling junk or ppi that you wouldnt have bought otherwise. AVOID
