Was calling, had all the wrong details about me, was after another name, but then decided they d try with their spiel anyway. Not sure if it s genuine or not, but was trying to get me interested in smart meters for my gas/electric. I told them I was on direct debit and that swiftly ended the call.

Just received a call. When I answered, a beeped sounded, an automatic voice said "goodbye" and the connection ended. I called back straightaway and a woman, struggling to speak English, answered, telling me she was from HMRC. She asked me to verify who I was. I replied "you called me, you should know who I am". obviously a robocaller. female voice identified herself as Lydia Lees, and say she was calling about the no fault accident I was involved in. when I answered yes to her question, I wad asked to stay on the line. i wss put on hold, at which time i ended the call. perhaps another one I can mess with if they call back...

My answerphone is permanently on to intercept this sort of thing. These people have started leaving malicious and abusive messages. Thought this went beyond telemarketing so reported them to police. Their response was to advise if I don t want abusive calls don t use answerphone! Not sure who s the bigger waste of space, cretinous telemarketers or the Met.
