Rather ask them to verify what they know about you and perhaps you may have a chance to find out where they got your phone number or data from.
SCAM Called about internet speed, this one claimed to be BT. Many calls last few weeks, sometimes claim to be Virgin, want to know speed, ip addr5ess and probably more. I string them along until they realise I am wasting their time, they then hang up abruptly. This one was not very polite.

SCAM - automated call claiming that 'Due to unauthorised use, your internet will be disconnected' and to hold on the line to speak to a call handler. Caller with Indian accent claimed to be from 'Cyber Security Dept' that deals with security issues for all the service providers including BT. Starts by asking me if I have given my password to anyone and what devices I currently have connected. After giving her some bogus answers, I put her on hold and disconnected the call after 5mins. Definitely SCAM!

Had a call today asking for my husband who passed away in may, he said oh yes I remember when we spoke he was ill, then said it was me that had been in touch with them regarding new windows, told him no as I already have new ones and I have a local builder that does anything I want done. You cannot be charged for answering a call. The numbers are spoofed by scammers and are from outside the UK so the TPS has no effect.

Received unsolicited calls from 0114 319 0673 even though I m signed up to the telephone preference service. Looks like they are faking their outgoing number which means they must be scammers. Don t bother answering or calling back.
These people have been calling us weekly for last 3 months asking for my partner by name about an accident claim . There has been no accident. A few weeks ago I told them I had looked them up on the internet and there are multiple reports of them harassing people for sales and to remove my number, the calls stopped for about 3 weeks but now they have started again! Going to have to have them blocked by tel co. It s the only way they will stop, should be reported for harassment
