You can use Truecaller to block calls. You will get notification that the number tried to call but when blocked it doesn t actually ring so you are not disturbed. You can pay by setting up direct debit and then cancel so not automatically taken following year. Don t take renewal quote...go on to AA site and get quote. Will be lower than renewal. Some organisations ie NHS get discount. Be smart. Play them at their own game.

Been called a couple of times from this number claiming I have money owed to me from a third party in my last crash. There was no third party involved, only myself, yet they keep on ringing and telling me this (presumably they want my bank details). When I explain that they are totally in the wrong and there is no money owed to me they have become VERY RUDE. 01227 250421 Call 8.9. 2020; ‘Matthew’ claimed to be ringing about a government scheme for loft insulation; when asked for details, claimed to be from a company based in Oxfordshire; a question about why he was therefore ringing from a Canterbury location, was met with the response that his manager would explain when he contacted us. I replied I strongly suspected a fraud and a scam, and put the phone down. It appears to be a scam to get inside people’s houses.

This sounds very dodgy from the start but I played along, chatting with a lady with a foreign accent. It's eventually got to the stage where she asked me for my bank account and sorting code, at which point I asked her a very personal question. She then swore at me and hung up. She had mentioned postcode lottery, and assured me that I had won a European holiday and £399 in cash at one point she said the company was called something like travel and leisure.

Cold call insisted there was a problem with our BT Internet, in 20+ years I've never had a BT line or phone number and have nothing from BT. The guy was quite insistant and rude when I told him so.

At 8.20am I answered my land line thinking it must be important and was a local number. It was a automated message saying ‘thank you for your payment of £299 for anti virus, if any problems please call our free phone number’ The number I’m afraid I didn’t get and it didn’t say any company either. I’m sure this is a scam of some sort that they catch you when you call to complain so very much aimed at the trusting, naive or elderly.
