They texted my mum faking to be one of her children, asking to delete the old number and to text back if she's "received this text". Just a scam. The spelling and grammar was off. The text went from informal to formal. Don't reply back.

SCAM caller - called saying he's from my bank, quoted some card details (correct, must be on a stolen database) to say that Apple Pay / Contactless are down for 24-48 hours while they do upgrades. I didn't give him any info but somehow he managed to set up an Apple Pay with my card and stole £2,600 from our company account, on payday, 4 days before Christmas. We're now completely skint and can't afford to pay the wages. Been doing some investigating and his name is Tyrell, apparently. Fuck you Tyrel

This person claimed to be my child who had smashed their phone and wanted me to WhatsApp this number, which I didn’t do. They said they had called from a friend’s phone 07599569709 which was about to die. This is terrible preying on parents. I don’t know what would have happened if I clicked on the number. Hope this helps others

I was caught out by this today. They claimed to be calling from O2. Luckily, I realised after the call ended and was able to change my account details before any damage was done. The scammers knew all of my details - full name, address, email address, how much I'm billed each month - even my security question. They were very convincing. Fraud - I was called off one number trying to get a security code that would reset my O2 account. when I refused to give the one time code to the lady she got aggressive. I said I would check with O2 customer service and if everything was ok would take up the offer. I was given this number as O2 customer services - IT IS NOT. I reported to O2 (202) and they confirmed that this was Fraud, and if I gave them the code they would have had access to my O2 account.
