Automated call from "bank security" "unauthorised/suspicious activity on your account" "press 1" etc. Obvious crooks.

The number = 01709889223, this number phoned me today (at 13:08 on 1st March 2022) and the caller stated they were from BT OUTBOUND ringing about my telephone. They were indian, male and middle aged, they identified themselves as John Martin. I am ex-directory and my phone is registered with the telephone preference service to block sales calls and unwanted calls. I checked online and the number was listed as Indian and Rotherham based. Cold caller from unknown person or people. My sense is that this is probably a scammer. If they weren’t they could leave a message. Thus, not to be trusted

A recorded message informed me that some fairly large debits had been made on my Barclaycard account and that I should press '1' immediately. (I didn't do so.) Checked my Barclaycard account and there is no sign of any such debits. I therefore concluded this was a scam.

Man with strong Indian accent calling himself "Daniel", claiming to be calling from "Microsoft Encarta" and saying that hackers had infected my PC, so he'd need access to it. A complete criminal scam. I told him I needed to go and get my computer, then left him waiting for ages until he eventually hung up. Number now blocked & reported to ICO.

They rang saying it was the Inland Revenue and that I had ignored letters and owed money and to press 1 to speak to their operative which I did not do. I blocked the number. I am a pensioner with heart problems so not impressed. It was a recorded message which sounded robotic - hope this helps and hope you can take it down. I've reported it to Inland Revenue via their on line form.

some clown who claimed that I had left my number with them a year ago I never left my number with anyone clearly purchased lists off the dark web Said the company was called Sharp Trade or something but the line was awful and the persons accent was foreign and difficult to understand I wish i could find out more about them 0208 638 3163 ?

SCAM It's a scam, they have your email and name from some kind of attack and they say you have cryptocurrency. And if you recall that. I never had. They say the name of the company is blockchain database but that it doesn't have a website. When I said all of this sounded very suspicious (and they even asked me why) the reply I got was 'Damn!" and they hang up.
