Marketing for JD Williams. The caller asked me if I was a Mr or a Mrs, which didn t get things off to a good start. Then started arguing with me when I questioned who they were, promised to call back later, even though it was obvious that I didn t want that (it felt more like a threat than a nicety) and put the phone down on me when I was in the middle of trying to explain that the person they were trying to speak to didn t live at my house anymore. Nuisance caller. I will prosecute this person for cold calls. Sometimes there is no answer when I lift the receiver; sometimes a female voice says "hello" and hangs up. They may have set the number so that when people dial "1471" the nuisance caller is still on the line and instead of the BT response to 1471 my phone is rigged to dial the caller s number. I am contacting the police with a view to prosecuting the caller for being a pest.

SCAM - automated call claiming that 'Due to unauthorised use, your internet will be disconnected' and to hold on the line to speak to a call handler. Caller with Indian accent claimed to be from 'Cyber Security Dept' that deals with security issues for all the service providers including BT. Starts by asking me if I have given my password to anyone and what devices I currently have connected. After giving her some bogus answers, I put her on hold and disconnected the call after 5mins. Definitely SCAM!
