Xmas day call from an unknown number in Crewe

An Indian voice, named James !, confirmed my details claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service and asked if I was still getting unwanted calls. I confirmed that I still get these and he informed me that I needed to update my details with them as it was about to expire. He then asked if I paid by direct debit - at this point I realised this to be a scam and ended the call.

So far I ve received two calls from this number within 24hrs after an online enquiry for broadband & phone with EE. I was just "shopping around" for a better deal.
