This is the HP support number. I had been speaking to them about an issue with my HP laptop, so they did have a legitimate reason to call me a few days ago, but the case had been closed so I chose not to take this call.
Scam. They ask for personal information and try to steal your card details, acting in a professional manner over the phone call. Never reveal any personal info. Rather ask them to verify what they know about you and perhaps you may have a chance to find out where they got your phone number or data from.

I had a call from this number where a somewhat threatening female voice informed me that criminal charges were about to be brought against me. I'm a 74 year old female who, while maybe not quite fitting the description of an angel, has not committed any crimes, heinous or otherwise. Were I the type who was easily intimidated I might have pressed 1 to see further details but luckily I'm not so I didn't. I'd love to punch this so and so right in the kisser but that WOULD be criminal - but deserved!!

They are calling, "On behalf of one of their clients", so telemarketing. I think it could be PPI advertising as I recently filled in a form online (although I did click to not receive any marketing calls). When I phoned the number back, there was an option to enter your number to then remove the information from their database. I did so. SCAM Called about internet speed, this one claimed to be BT. Many calls last few weeks, sometimes claim to be Virgin, want to know speed, ip addr5ess and probably more. I string them along until they realise I am wasting their time, they then hang up abruptly. This one was not very polite.

A guy called James was the caller and said he was calling on behalf of my bank as I had apparently been in contact with them, which I haven t and he had my name also.
