Received a call on my mobile at around 11.30am, and was told I had a refund via PPI from a credit card or loan. Had to ask me which one and from which bank. (Should know all this before calling me, how else would they know if I m owed anything?) Almost certainly a scammer. These calls use spoofed numbers and originate outside the UK. The scammers can spoof any number they want. Block the number if you have the facility.

An absolute scam they said they are from BAT yet say they got information from public records?????? Needs shutting down and jail operatives .needless to say they got nothing from me. Yes, l got a call from this number to say that l had been involved in a car accident. I said l hadn t, but asked who had informed them l had. She said the RTA so when l asked where the accident was, surprisingly the line went dead. Feeling bloody annoyed l called the number back, but it just said it was invalid. Not happy.

When you answer your phone and if it s a number you don t recognise, DON T SPEAK JUST LISTEN! Wait for the caller to speak first and then decide whether to simply put the phone down. If it s a recorded message, it ll nearly always be a scam or a computer dialling a batch of numbers in sequence and trying to assertain if the number they have just dialled is a voice line. i.e. a private phone number. If the system recognises a voice line then that number will be added to a list for their agent to call you bac
