I suspect that it s a Skype type call from a foreign country - they usually come up with a number that looks like a uk STD code but could be from anywhere in the world.

Been pestered several times by this caller, so I eventually dialled back to find out who they were. A recorded message informed me that they were calling on behalf of the People s Postcode Lottery.
0203 769 7565 - My elderly mother advised she had received a scam call, claiming to be Sky and calling her by name. SCAM / SPAM: BT Scam! Asian sounding female called from a call centre, asking for me by name. I deliberately answered the phone in German, which made her hesitant. She said she was calling from 'British Telecom', and asked for Mrs **** again. I asked her who she was, in German, and she ended the call abruptly. When I did 1471 to get her number, it said 'Please Hang Up' which makes me think this is a spoofed number. Incidentally, I no longer have a BT phone line.
