I finally picked up this call after several days and they said they wanted to know if I would renew my Economist subscription. I said that I already had, and they said "Oh, let me check my new system. Oh yes, you have, that s ok then." and that was all. A little odd, but seems like the Economist gives them the opportunity to salvage some lapsed subscriptions.

I told her I could not make head nor tail of what she was selling, so she rang off. I hate cold callers - but I find it is best to ask them lots of questions without answering a single one!

From reading the comments here I can confirm that both myself and my partner have received a call from this number both within a day of each other. We have a SimplyBe AND Jacamo accounts, however when we answer the call there is no one there. On calling back we are given the option to remove our numbers from the database. Automated message apparently from HMRC saying that a fraud investigation had been opened relating to me. If I did not choose option 1 a warrant would be issued. Sounds like a scam to me.
