I m ashamed to say that I worked for Ben Reynolds for a short time back in 2012 when his company was called Crown Lawyers. Same story as these, he d get us to find people with debts, take a fee from them and then cut off all contact with them. Supposedly we d get a commission for every job taken on, but he d tell us that the person had decided not to go ahead with recovering their debt and so we got nothing. We then found out that they had agreed to pursue the debt and Ben just wanted to avoid paying us

Had them call me regardsin PPI claims a few months ago, when paperwork arrived they had not listened to me and all info was wrong so threw it all in the bin, called them up and told them not to contact me again. A South African has just called my mobile - WHERE DID THEY GET MY NUMBER FROM? He tried to follow things up but I simply told him that I was not interested, he waffled on so I put the phone down!
Its a trustworthy number as its AO.COM. I bought an appliance recently and they were confirming everything. Unfortunately, the guy was persistent on setting up a domestic and general insurance for £7 a month. Annoying as the appliance comes with 2 years warranty. If I wanted D&G warranty i d go to D&G and get it. Please do not cold call customers pushing for the sale of this its unwanted.

Asian person said he was from the Telephone Preference Service. Had my surname and flat no/postcode. Said they can stop scammers calling - know that the TPS cannot do this with numbers that may look like UK nos but are routed from Asia. He started to ask whether I still paid by Direct Debit (TPS is free!!!) so told him I didn t want to speak to him and hung up.

The message said HMRC had a tax fraud case listed against my name and I should press 1 to connect to the HMRC investigating officer to discuss the case. It then went on to say that if I didn't I would be arrested for tax fraud - I knew it was not true but some people could be really scared and stressed by this horrible scam.

A recorded message saying "This is BT your internet and Lind Line will cease to operate from today - press 1 to speak to an advisor or 2 to clear". This is an old scam which has reared its head again with new numbers. Do not press either button or you will be charged for the call and can be very costly. Block the number immediately.

HMRC scammers calling, claiming that people owe tax money and will be arrested. Threatening voice but ludicrous message. Do not press 1 - just hang up and get on with your day.
If this works the same way as telesales they need to keep you on the line for 30 seconds in order to earn their wages. Just hang up...
