Received a call today (25.01.23) stating I was being investigated by HMRC and to press number 1 to speak with an operative. I just did nothing and the call was ended automatically. I'm guessing this was a scammer! Blocked of course.
7 seconds of silence after I said 'hello' then line went dead
Didn't answer. Looked it and and over a dozen reports of various scam attempts including pretending to be HMRC.

Hard to understand person, strong foreign accent, claiming to represent O2, yet calling from a number on the Three Network. Had a call from this number today. Automated voice message saying someone trying to use £800 from debit card for a gambling place in the USA. They said they was from the fraud team. It also said they were not letting that £800 to come off debit card until I had spoken to someone. It tells you to press 1 to speak to an agent. I didn't want to speak to anyone so I put the phone down. The Automated voice sounded very familiar. People please don't fall for this.
