Just received a call from an Indian sounding chap called Charles . Asked me to confirm if I was receiving a high volume of telemarketing calls, and that he could help. Gave me the 0845 number, and told me to call for a box to plug in to the phone for ?1 something per month. I asked him to hold on for a moment, muted the call, put it on speaker and just left the phone on the desk while I carried on with my work. SCAM -Amy, from Microsoft Corporation (yeah, right!), has been receiving reports that my computer has been hacked, gave me a 32 digit licence number (I thought it should be 25) and wanted to help me check it on the computer. When I refused to turn the computer on, she said that I would have to go to their HQ in Reading in the next 3 days, but when I asked how to contact her she hung up. Strange, that!

Telemarketing for PPI claims. Nuisance calls as they keep calling once or twice a day, sometimes hang up without speaking. When they do speak they try to give the impression that they already have details of what you can claim for while asking intrusive questions. They have twice told me that I will be removed from their call list.

SCAM - I believe this number to be part of a convincing scam! Caller claimed to be from 'Motor Assess' regarding a recent accident. Interestingly I had a minor touch in my car yesterday and exchanged insurance details, so I thought was related, but the individual I was speaking to didn't quite seem convincing and couldn't give me any details, I googled 'motor assess' whilst speaking to him, with no trace of the company! The person I was talking to was persuasive and persistent!
