Fraud. I got a recorded message in an American accent saying that a criminal case has been filed against me for tax evasion. I think I am probably stupid enough to accept this and panic, but I don't believe it and burst out laughing. I think the accent tipped me of 'cause the patter was quite believable(NOT!).

When I answered the call a man said he was calling from a security company which installed alarms etc - I said I was not interested and he said ok and I switched off phone. It was to my mobile number which I have only given to friends and family - cannot understand how I am now getting calls on this phone mainly from phones which appear to be in the North of England. Lots of times no-one answers but equally I do not answer most of them as presume they are scams

Tried to sell me loft insulation, told he I ve got recently on a grant. Then went onto cavity wall insulation,, can t have that done, not got proper cavity walls. Said he was from Domestic and General asked for my name, and then said he could not hear me could I give it again which I did. I had cancelled a insurance with D & G and thought they were ring to make me change my name. He then asked for the first name of my address and post code, and again said he couldn t hear me and asked me to repeat it again. This is when I got suspicious and hung up. I rang D & G and they apparently do not keep a record of outgoing cals.
