SCAM Automated call pretended to be Ofcom and that my io address has been connected with links and internet was to be switched off within 24 hours, and asking me to press 1 to connect with the scammer. Hung up and contacted Ofcom directly and clarified it was indeed a scam. Horrible bastards I hope no one gets caught out HANG UP IMMEDIATLY.

This number called with message about "every house needs to be done by 2016" plus "we are in your area" last week - some solar panel scam. Didn t answer - the message is recorded on my answerphone. Same message from 01316483485 yesterday - same result. This lot have probably rented fake numbers from a major phone company which offers them on its web site. Some firms offer call centres numbers which give the person called the idea that it is a local call.

Its usually a premuim rate scam that either has some kind of fax machine tone, or someone claiming to be someone they're not trying to keep you on the line for as long as possible whilst running up your phone bill
