Similar experience to Tuglet ... Caller claimed OH had been getting lots of nuisance calls, I said no, he never picks up the phone unless he knows the number and if our phone does not block them automatically, then I did and put the phone down. Now polite I know but expected the hard sell.

Just to confirm, after my previous post I reported this number to the police, who said it definitely is a scam, and that Microsoft would never call you about this sort of thing. These people will generally want remote access to your computer to "fix a virus" or something like that. They show you some files that they know every computer has and tell you they re harmful, which is completely untrue. They then use the remote access to steal from you. I recieve calls on a daily basis from this number regarding payment protection insurance. seems to be automated since the previous call come from a different 0844 number. Odd.

Called my elderly grandad just now (isn?t the first time). He couldn?t understand him so passed the phone to me. An Indian man calling from ?Remote Security? and enquiring about a ?computer or laptop in your house? I told him we didn?t have either and he carried on trying to talk, so I repeated that we didn?t have either and to not call again and he hung up. Expecting a call again tomorrow as that?s what happened last time I told them not to call
