This company uses various combinations of telephone number. I just let the answer phone kick in. If I recognise the voice I then answer, can have 6 -10 of this type of call a day. I do 1471 and keep a note of all the numbers and then check them out on Google.

Just had a call for this number - an automated message saying it was from HMRC and my name was linked to fraud. I had to press 1 to be connected to an advisor. Failure to do so would mean I would be arrested.....I'll take that risk.

Strong Asian accent purporting to be Fone House company offering deal on Iphone 13. Then sent stuff via whatsap. Fairly certain a scam.
My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Called twice within the hour during the evening. Nottingham code. We live hundreds of miles from there! Left answer machine to deal with it. Recorded message saying there was a power cut in our area (there was not) press a number to acknowledge we'd heard the message (we didn't). We unplugged the phone overnight as they'd said they'd let us know when the power would be back on. Odd!

SCAM Fraud BEWARE ! This number has only recently appeared on this site (August 2023) from other people checking. Caller says you've suspicious transactions on your card, knows your name and last four digits of the card. Asks you to check the balance, in my case without any security questions.
