The fact they were not willing to state who they were in their message is enough evidence for me that they want to sell me something.

This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported as a scam offers (in most cases some financial offers, debt collecting). For sure some general call centre. They claim they ringing on behalf of L&G but they have been employed to carry the survey on behalf a company called Gusto Research in Leeds. So a 3rd party has asked another 3rd party to carry out the survey!
