Went dead as soon as I answered but this sounds like the same thing as reported on the media with Indian (or Indian subcontinent) scammers pretending to be from spoofing the number of an innocent guy in Wigan who has nothing to do with it.

Called me twice first time tried to scam me with story about my faulty BT router? I am not with BT and I am not that stupid . The girl was not very convincing and hung up when I suggested Giving my pass word for my router was never happening, then laughed.
**SCAM CALL** Indian lady said I have a cheque for £1780. She had my old address which I had moved out from 8 years ago! She also wanted to confirm my date of birth, which I said "you should already have that in your system so I will not give it over the phone!" She hung up! ITS A SCAM!!!!
